Cheran's Poetry and Kavisangamam

Wednesday 20 Dec 2012 became an unforgettable poetic memory for me

The words burned like amber and Emotions flooded the words

Be it Tamil or English... the emotions rooted the words in listener's hearts.

Fortunate to render the translation of The Trace of a Dream Translated into Telugu by Pasupuleti Geetha garu... I was thrilled at the rage of the letters while reading it! Other poets such as Katta Srinivas, Dr Pulipati garu, Yajnapal Raju, KAsi Raju read other poetic translations of Cheran into Telugu by Afsar ji and others.

His Apocalypse or Amma Azhaade -- Mother Don't Cry - were a heart burst of courage!

The Genocide of Tamils and the anguish of destruction -- socio-cultural gave way to the painful poetic thread of books of Cheran. Stunned rendering with moistened eyes and the burning heart the audience were swept off their feet in solidarity with the poet.

(sorry friends.. its my maiden attempt of recording... Just enjoy the poem recitation by Cheran)

His poems in Tamil are simple beauty of words.. You need to hear them to enjoy.. Here is one of his Tamil Poems he rendered at Lamakaan on 21 Dec 2012.

The release of Second Sunrise -- a book of his poetic collections @ Sundarayya Vignaana Kendram was a treamendous poetic success. At heart we felt the pain and anguish of Cheran and were one with him with tears in eyes and heavy hearts.

Credit goes to Yakoob ji and Sumanaspati Reddy garu for such a great literary programme.
